In the late 1980s, I heard Ken Nordine’s Word Jazz for the first time on KRCC in Colorado Springs. I just loved those spooky, funny, surreal shows. Years later, I went looking for the radio episodes but could only find his albums, which are wonderful but not the same. Miraculously, I happened upon recordings of these shows just yesterday. What luck! 🎶
This is a weekend that I wish wouldn’t end.
Early morning fog over LSU Lakes.
Just a little box turtle who hitched a ride from Alabama on some new sod.
Cordes Anciennes is a beautiful album. This morning I also learned that it can soothe babies into sleep while driving through my neighborhood. 🎵
In 1987, I took the bus downtown, went to Budget Tapes and Records in Colorado Springs, Colorado and bought my first tape.
Entryway, Via Emanuele Filiberto, Rome, Italy
The hotter it gets, the more I love my lunchtime swim routine.
My family and I took a drive to Siena, Italy when we stayed in Florence in early June. I found these wonderful travertine (or marble) cubes at a shop not far from the city center. I bought them. All I could think of were these wonderful scenes of marble quarrying in a video I’d seen just before I left. Watch this guy’s hands.

I know it’s already mid-July but there is still time to work on developing my courses, one of which deals with digital storytelling, before the fall.

Spent some of May/June in Italy with my family. I enjoyed visiting, gazing at, and sometimes drinking from fountains in Rome. On hot days the cool water from those streetside fountains was always refreshing.
I’m so glad that the semester is over!
Thank you for this, unknown graffiti artist.
Enzo and I enjoying Radiohead.
The Spanish Town Parade was too rainy for our taste. But we wore our pink t-shirts anyway.
